What is bandwidth?
When choosing a web host, you come across many options. One of those is called ‘Bandwidth’. Some hosts offer unlimited bandwidth, while others have a cap on it. Now the question is, what is it? The answer is very simple, bandwidth is the amount of data transferred from your server each month. For example, say that each page of your website is 100 KiloBytes (KBs) and that each month 1,000 webpages are viewed, then you consume 100 * 1000 KiloBytes = 100 MBs (MegaBytes).
The bandwidth you use includes everything from web pages to images hosted on your server. So choose your hosting service very carefully. If you are expecting to have a huge traffic on your website, then go with an unlimited or unmetered bandwidth providers. Because once you cross your limit, most hosts just take your website down for the rest of the month, or ask ridiculous amounts of money for over-usage.
